We have 2 drop-off events coming up real soon! This Saturday night, you won’t want to miss Drawgasmic Art Exhibition – The Art, Illustration, and Design Compendium at 2720 Cherokee St. from 7pm-1am in St. Louis! You’ll get to see 1000 works of art by 1000 indie artists from all over the country! We also have the third Soulard Market Park Arts and Crafts Fair around the corner on July 17th from 9am – 3pm.

Just look for our olive green camping tent at these events, place your donations inside, and grab a coupon!

Project 8: Craft the BP Oil Spill Clean-up!

Join us at MADE On Sunday, June 27th from 10a.m.-2p.m. to make hand towels for wildlife rescue workers. Dolphins, sea turtles, and countless other creatures have been affected by the Deepwater Horizon disaster, and this is an opportunity for crafters(or anyone, really) to help out! The Upcycle Exchange and MADE will provide fabric; you bring the scissors!

New Classes at Whole Foods!

The Upcycle Exchange has partnered up with Whole Foods to bring you a series of affordable craft workshops! In June, you can learn how to make moss terrariums. There’s a lot more to them than just throwing dirt and plants in a jar! Bring your own container, and you’ll be provided with all the other materials you need, along with tons of tips on assembly and maintenance. We have scheduled two dates for you to choose from at the Brentwood, MO location!

Recycled Art Class: Moss Terrariums – $20

Tuesday, June 15th: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Thursday, June 24th: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

With Artist and Coordinator of Upcycle Exchange Autumn Wiggins
Come create an enclosed indoor garden while learning proper assembly and care techniques from an experienced terrarium maker. These beautiful, low-maintenance biospheres are unique and inexpensive to craft for your own use or for a gift! Bring up to three clear glass or plastic enclosures less than a foot wide at the base that have metal, glass, or plastic lids. Other necessary materials will be provided, but you may also bring small props made of plastic, porcelain, or non-rusting metal to use in your terrarium.

Green With Indie & New Wish-list!

Our next collection event is this weekend at Green With Indie! Look for our green drop-off tent in left the corner near the lot entrance. Put your donations inside and grab a coupon flyer, which will have a guide to on-site discounts. The following member artists will be there in person: Candy Calamity, Hypercraftive, Just Liv, Red Anvil, South City Studio, Squaresville, The Science Faire, and Twisted Handmade. Soulard Market Park Arts & Crafts Fair

The Upcycle Exchange will be collecting donations at all upcoming dates of this awesome event! Many of our member artists are participating in the fair, conveniently located next to historic Soulard Market. Bring items on our wish-list and get a coupon good for discounts on handmade goods. NEW at this event will be our drop-off camping tent! Look for the olive green tent with the Upcycle sign, place your donations inside of it, and grab a coupon. The Science Faire and Cranky Yellow will be right next to the tent if you need assistance.

Open Enrollment for Summer 2010!

Would you like to become a member of The Upcycle Exchange? Open Enrollment for Summer 2010 has begun! This is THE season for popular events where we accept donations.

Get your requests on our Wish-List and, get listed in our artist directory, and gain entrance to our monthly members-only Green CrafTea Pick-up Party where you get to take home as many supplies as you like at no additional charge.

Our program headquarters is conveniently located at Finders Hive on Cherokee St. in St. Louis.

Applications For New Members Available thru May 14th!

Also, we are making a slight change to the fee structure. It ends up being cheaper and simpler for artists in the end. Instead of paying a $15 quarterly fee and $5 monthly pick-up fee, there will be a flat quarterly fee of $20. That’s $10 less for a full season of supply pick-ups!

This fun little PTO fundraiser will have over 30 vendors featuring produce, plants, baked goods, kids activities and even some indie crafts! Twisted and The Science Faire will be kickin’ it in O-town next weekend, so if you’re around the area stop on by to drop off donations.
