Project 8: Craft the BP Oil Spill Clean-up!

Join us at MADE On Sunday, June 27th from 10a.m.-2p.m. to make hand towels for wildlife rescue workers. Dolphins, sea turtles, and countless other creatures have been affected by the Deepwater Horizon disaster, and this is an opportunity for crafters(or anyone, really) to help out! The Upcycle Exchange and MADE will provide fabric; you bring the scissors!

Green With Indie & New Wish-list!

Our next collection event is this weekend at Green With Indie! Look for our green drop-off tent in left the corner near the lot entrance. Put your donations inside and grab a coupon flyer, which will have a guide to on-site discounts. The following member artists will be there in person: Candy Calamity, Hypercraftive, Just Liv, Red Anvil, South City Studio, Squaresville, The Science Faire, and Twisted Handmade. This fun little PTO fundraiser will have over 30 vendors featuring produce, plants, baked goods, kids activities and even some indie crafts! Twisted and The Science Faire will be kickin’ it in O-town next weekend, so if you’re around the area stop on by to drop off donations.

We do hope to spread the word to lots of people around St. Louis who may have not heard about us yet! Come see our crafty-cute table in the Muny walkway, and get schwaggy crafty stuff.

This month, we are opening our members-only pick-up party to the public! Come find out about the program, sit for a spot of tea, and take your pick from our abundant art and craft supply inventory!

Bookmaking Workshops at Finder’s Hive!

The Upcycle Exchange, in partnership with Finder’s Hive, is excited to announce a series of upcoming bookmaking workshops taught by Laura Anderson!
You’ll have access to an abundant variety of cool paper and vintage ephemera collected by The Upcycle Exchange, but you are welcome to bring your own special scraps as well! Laura is an attentive teacher who will guide you through simple bookbinding techniques that are adaptable to a wide range of materials. Feel free to bring drawings, stories, poems, comics,or any paper creation wanting a binding, and all additional materials will be provided. A suggested $2-$10 donation would benefit Finders Hive and C.A.M.P., but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. RSVP helpful, but not required. Big Ass Holiday Show!

Get a big-ass chunk of your holiday shopping done at the upcoming Big Ass Indie Art and Craft Show! Need some room in your closets to hide presents? The Upcycle Exchange is here to help. We’ll be on hand all weekend accepting items on our Wish-List. When you donate, we are offering FREE GIFT WRAPPING for all your purchases at the show!

Note: The Upcycle Exchange is currently switching from event-based collection/sorting/distribution to ongoing drop-off locations and central sorting/distribution. Please excuse the absense of discount coupons while this transition is taking place. We aim to have coupons back in place by January 2010. From now on, we will publish seasonal Wish-lists. Please see the Winter 2009 version below!

The Strange Upcycle Exchange

This is THE BIG ONE folks! We have over 25 artists participating in The Upcycle Exchange at the upcoming Strange Folk Festival on September 26th & 27th in O’Fallon, IL. Strange Folk is one of the biggest indie craft shows of the year with 125 unique artists from all over the country, live bands, plenty of fun food, and hands-on activities. It was voted BEST Craft Festival OF 2008 by The Riverfront Times.

When you donate items on our Wish-Lists, you’ll get a coupon book filled with amazing discounts and goodies that you can use in-person at the festival. make sure it’s your first stop before you shop!

Big Ass Indie Show 2009

It’s a Big Ass Upcycle Exchange! Drop-off wish list items at our booth near the entrance and receive a Coupon Book full of awesome discounts and give-aways from participating vendors!

The Big Ass Indie Art and Craft Show is a merchandised event with a central check-out. Due to this set-up, they will not be able to process coupons at the register. However, you can shop local online anytime, and many of our vendors will even accept them in person at upcoming events!
